Evidence Before Certainty

Purpose and independence

Zcash Explained is an independent educational publication. It is not the official Zcash website and is not operated by the Zcash Foundation, Electric Coin Company, Zcash Open Development Lab, or another ecosystem organization.

The goal is to make financial privacy and Zcash understandable without presenting advocacy as certainty. Nothing on this site is financial, legal, tax, or security advice.

Source standard

Technical and protocol claims should link to specifications, Zcash Improvement Proposals, source repositories, academic papers, or official release notes. Legal and policy claims should link to legislation, regulators, central banks, or other primary records and include a review date when they can change.

Comparisons should distinguish protocol guarantees from wallet behavior, exchange policy, network metadata, and user practices. Absolute claims such as “untraceable” are avoided because real privacy depends on the full system and threat model.

Narrative disclosure

Personal stories, names, dialogue, and scene details in book chapters are illustrative composites unless a source is explicitly named. They are used to explain a concept, not presented as reporting about a real individual.

Historical, technical, economic, and policy claims remain nonfiction claims and should be supported independently of the narrative device.

Anonymous authorship

The author remains anonymous as a privacy choice. Anonymity is not a substitute for expertise or evidence, so readers should judge claims by their sources, reasoning, disclosed limitations, and correction history.

Corrections and review history

Material errors are corrected in place and affected pages receive an updated review date. On August 30, 2026, the site completed a project-wide review covering structured data, broken links, accessibility, policy claims, privacy guarantees, current Zcash terminology, the Zashi-to-Zodl transition, and the Ironwood/NU6.3 upgrade.
